[edit] Conversion

The article says: "Conversion from Islam is technically difficult through social and official aspects....". Can anyone elaborate on this? It is certainly not common, but are there external obstacles preventing a person from changing his faith? --Vsion 06:34, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

I tried searching the MUIS website for rules on conversion/apostasy/renouncing Islam but didn't get anything. I guess a key social issue would be coping with the sitgmatisation by the general Muslim community. -- Dodo bird 08:19, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

There is no evidence to suggest a widespread trend of "stigmatization" against Singaporeans who have converted to another religion from Islam. Also, the statement that "virtually all Malays strictly adhere to Islamic principles" also requires more evidence from a credible, academic source.--202.156.6.54 18:21, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
