[edit] Kolathiris

I hope somebody start an article about Kolathiris.

There is an article on Kolathiris but it redirects to Chirakkal Raja. It is very confusing. Mattisse(talk) 15:49, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] This article seems to be a combination of several existing articles and to have the wrong name

Why is it not called Malabar region? Calling it Malabar makes the town of Malabar disappear. Mattisse(talk) 15:44, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Origin of the word Malabar

There are other sources online that claim that the word Malabar actually comes from the Arab word "Ma'bar" which means "passage". The explanation given to support the claim seems to be the fact that Arab merchants had a long standing relationship with the rulers in Kerala even before the birth of Islam. So now the question is who is correct about the origin of the word "Malabar"?
