[edit] Featured articles and pictures

The portal has been started for a bit of a while already, and it would be great if more featured articles are pictures could be provided for use on the portal. The previous featured articles and pictures are:

The current ones are:

[edit] News section

Content for the news section can be obtained from Current events in Malaysia and Singapore. If you would like to update the section with any new news, please update the current events article at the same time and vice versa (just make sure only Malaysian news goes into the Malaysian portal).

Dates should be listed on the day as soon as it's published in the newspapers, and not on the day of the event. If the only copy comes from an online news website, use the date provided on the news article.

[edit] Content

Before changing the FA or FP, take the intro sentence and/or a couple paragraphs of the history section. It is recommended that you take a look and fix any problems that you can see on the FA and FP articles, and then include the updated version of the articles. This also goes the same way for the Malaysia section of the portal.

[edit] I've updated, but why can't I see any changes?

That's because you need to purge the server cache.

[edit] Note

The above is not an official policy of the portal or anything binding at all, just suggestions. Please improve the portal as you see fit, even if it's against the listed suggestions. Regards, Andylkl (talk) 10:11, 26 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

How about include a title for Malaysia online activities e.g. Malaysian bloggers, online activist? Sltan 08:52, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

From the top of my mind only Jeff Ooi deserves an article about himself at the moment, perhaps there are one or two others more that I can't remember at the moment (Mack Zulkifli perhaps?). Let's list down the names of some notable bloggers first. As for activists, if they've been covered in the newspapers in these past few years, it could be beneficial if their names could be listed here too. Btw, I think this kind of question is best asked on the Malaysian notice board. --Andylkl (talk) 17:13, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
wow, those are "hardcore" literacture. Perhaps a mixture of figures will show the true Malaysian online activities. E.g. TV Smith is actually veteran of online contents, back 1995, before internet boom. Sixthseal is well known for his boldness on blogs. And some bloggers are well know to polluting/enrich the Internet with special jargon. Some are social activist. A "blogger column" should be sufficient Sltan 12:08, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

Hi..fellas ..maybe we can create some of malaysian wikipedian...how about that???che 05:13, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Malaysiakini's Sim Kwang Yang might deserve a shout; might be notable enough on the grounds of being an MP alone, much less being a Mkini columnist. Borisblue 00:52, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Portal Outdated

The Malaysian Portal is outdated. Most of the events (and news) listed there have already happened long ago (to be more precise; March). Also, the featured picture is stil the same (Mount Kinabalu). Could someone please update it? Thank you. Acs4b 01:45, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm teaching myself bahasa Melayu so I figure I might as well learn more about the country. I'll clean it up a bit. Gicheru 00:01, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Suggestion

I suggest that the featured article/picture in this portal should be changed on a monthly basis. Maybe someone should suggest a new article/image to be featured and then, a voting session could be held for one week (before the next month). Thank you and please express your opinion.
