Malkapur is a city and a municipal council in Buldana district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.

The old town was wholly encompassed by a fort wall. A huge Masjid is located at the centre of the fort. Masjid was build by Mullah Kasam Ali Kamar Ali, a businessman who came to Malkapur to start a new business in year 1905. Just next to Masjid he built a community hall which is being used for all community functions. Just in front of Masjid there is a government subsidized Urdu primary school City School. City school was established in 1888 during British rule.

Tourists are drawn to India for its Taj Mahal, Ajanta-Ellora, Konark temple, etc. The Government of India has issued a map depicting the Indian sites of historic and mythological importance and where ancient artifacts were found. The Government has also brought out a guide book giving particulars of various places of tourist interest in all corners of the country with a view to promoting tourism in India. But there is no mention either in the map or in the guide book for Alewadi and Malkapur townships in the Buldhana District of Vidarbha none of any such places in the Osmanabad district in Marathwada. In the Sholapur district there are Nagnunsar and Kemalar which are hardly known even in other parts of Maharashtra, what to speak of the rest of India.

Jain saint Khatargachhdhipati Pujya Sri Mahodaya Sagar Suri Ji Maharaj died on 26 July 2000 at Malkapur (Maharashtra). The followers of Khatagachh sampradaya all over the country marked the occasion with solemn prayers.

It is located on Hajira - Kolkatta National Highway 6. NH6 is a pat of Asian Highway 46 from Kharagpur to Dhule.
