Malik are found among both Hindu as well as Muslims . The Hindu Maliks are predominantly Punjabi Khatri and belonged to West Pakistan areas which now form Pakistan Punjab . After the partition of India in 1947 the Hindu Khatris moved to India .Many Khatris converted to Islam and are now found in Pakistan in Pakistan and some in Bihar. India.
Another theory is that the Muslim Malik are the descendants of Syed Ibrahim Malik Biya whose 7th great grandfather in the family tree was Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jelani, one of the Great Sufis in Islam. Syed Ibrahim migrated from Baghdad in 1339 AD to Afghanistan, then settled in Ghazni. He was a man of great knowledge and a great warrior. Knowledge seekers from far distant areas came there to quench their thirst for knowledge, getting many pearls of wisdom from him. The Sultan Muhammad Tughlaq invited him to educate his forces. He was given the command of the Indian forces. He showed his full competency and neutralized many revolts in the troubled areas of India. He introduced the system of fair justice to all and became very popular because of all these acts. He died in 1352. His tomb is in Bihar India.
