Malgorzata Zalewska

Malgorzata Zalewska is one of the few harpists, who earns her living almost exclusively from appearing in concerts. She studied harp with prof. Alina Baranowska and prof. Urszula Mazurek and is a graduate the Music Academy in Warsaw.She perfected her abilities in master courses conducted by such acclaimed artists as Susanne Mildonian, Ursula Holliger and Elena Polonski as well as Andrew Lawrence King (arpa doppia). Her solo debut at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw took place in 1993. As a soloist, she has performed with such noted artists as Francisco Araiza, Brigitte Balleys, Daniel Stabrawa, Jerzy Maksymiuk and Chikara Imamura.She has given a multitude of solo recitals and played with orchestras in Austria, France, Italy,Hungary, Germany, Russia and United Arab Emirates. Małgorzata Zalewska commenced a permanent affiliation with the Warsaw Chamber Opera in 1994 .She has made various recordings for Decca, Hungarton, EMI, Pro Musica, Dux and the Polish Radio and Television. She actively promotes chamber music and permanently collaborates with Elżbieta Pańko - mezzo-soprano, Jagoda Sokołowska - flute, and Tomasz Strahl - cello. In 1996 she made her television debut and has subsequently appeared in a number of television broadcasts dedicated to harp music from which were made the following recordings: -W.A. Mozart Concerto for Flute and Harp in C major KV 299,performed in the Sixth Mozart Festival in Warsaw (2nd TV programme, 1996), -Recital in the Summer Festival in Radziejowice under the auspices of Jerzy Waldorff,which - in his opinion was the prime concert of that festival (Warsaw TV, 1998), -A recital entitled „Impressions” in the International Music Festival in Łańcut (TV Polonia, 1999). At the request of the CAMAC harp producer Joel Garnier, Małgorzata Zalewska took part in the promotional campaign for the Atlantide Harp, which resulted in her picture on the cover of prestigious magasines like „HARPA” and „HARP INTERNATIONAL”.
