[edit] Plot
Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.
Jerry has problems with a childhood friend, Joel Horneck, who persists in keeping in touch with him. George obsesses over a girlfriend dumping him for floss-related reasons. This was the first episode made with Elaine as a character (although "The Stakeout" was aired before it), who helps Jerry make excuses not to see Joel. Kramer comes up with an idea about "a pizza place where you make your own pie" (which appears prominently in later episodes, most notably "The Couch").

[edit] Trivia
- This episode marks the first reference by Kramer to Kramerica Industries. It would be mentioned again in "The Voice".
- Kramer's make-your-own-pizza idea would be further addressed in the later episode, "The Couch".
- Excluding the pilot episode (officially titled "The Seinfeld Chronicles", but originally thought to be named "Good News, Bad News"), this is the only episode in the series not to start with the word "The".
- Kevin Dunn, the actor who played Joel, had auditioned for the role of George Costanza.
