A presidential election was held in the Maldives on 17 October 2003. In the Maldives, the parliament nominates a president, who is then voted on by the public. On this occasion, all 50 MPs voted for the incumbent, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, and voters were asked whether they backed his candidacy or not.

Gayoom received 90.3% of the votes, with a 77% turnout.
