Malakand District

Malakand District is one of the districts in the North West Frontier Province , Pakistan.There are two tehsils in District Malakand, which are Dargai and Batkhela. The famous Malakand Pass which connect Mardan to Swat and Dir is located near Dargai,Where the local Pushtun tribes fought two fierce battle with the British army in 1895 and 1897 .

Before 1970 it was under the control of Federal Government, it came under the administration of provincial government in 1970. It has historical importance because of having ways joining Northern Areas and Chitral. The folllowing are the statistical figures abouT Malakand District(Source: NWFP Govt website).

  • Population of the district will reach to 567000 in 2004-05.
