[edit] Ryukyuan Religion

Be my guest! I was going to discuss these two topics in the "Ryukyuan Mythos" section. Especially concerning Nirai Kanai, I have yet to form a coherant idea of what exactly Nirai Kanai is...most sources have it as a kind of mythical homeland across the sea (from whence gods come to give gifts, etc), but at least one primary source treats *G*irai Kanai as the realm of the Dragon King UNDER the sea. I'm in Okinawa now, so checking up on information is easy, but when it comes to this kind of thing, most people don't know anything specific or definite. Feel free to contribute however you can! The article is everyone's, so don't feel like you have to ask! Thanks, Turly-burly 03:22, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

I was wondering if there is any bibliographic information you could provide concerning your additions. It really helps strengthen the article to fact check sources against sources; also, too, I am insanely curious as to where you found these things about the Futuki. I found an [anime website] that briefly discusses these ancestors, but nothing more substantial online. The book "Ancestors Worship", listed in the Ryukyuan religion bibliography, has some interesting information concerning these spirits. Can you help me out with your links? Thanks! Turly-burly 14:02, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Excellent. Thank you for checking up on things...I was a little wary of the anime site, too, especially the business concerning a) the feathery/bark-strip costumes, b) rules of intervention, and c) spirits of future descendants coming to the aid of living ancestors (this is interesting but I'm not sure how true). I'm sure your friends know what they're talking about. I'm going to move the futuchi nformation up into the "Ancestors and..." section, since it belongs there with the description of ancestors at different points in time. As far as naming conventions go, Uchinaguchi (the Ryukyuan language) has always been an oral language, and pronunciations/words used can vary widely (note the many variations I often list next to nouns). I don't think we have to worry too much about it as long as we don't bleed into a completely different word. Turly-burly 03:24, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Wow! Please don't worry. It's not a big deal, and I don't think it reflects poorly on you at all. It's simply a good example of why we do all this fact-checking and such. I'm all for writing what you know and leaving it until someone who knows more can add or change. It means you're trying; it opens up doors to new and better article content; it encourages further research. For instance, I had no idea about the specific name/functions of "futuki", but since we started in on it, I've had four good conversations with interesting people (yourself included), I've had a fun run through Ryukyuan language, and we together have made the article better with its researched inclusion. I hope you'll continue to contribute! Like I said above, the article is everyone's (even though I admittedly do tend it like a garden), so feel free to do what you can whenever you can! [edit] Stuff about Ikkaku

I've checked out the manga, it seems that the earlier version resulted in from a translation error by Juu-ni (strange, I've always trusted that group to make better translations than Manga7). Anyway, it still seems like there is something that dissipates (see picture), it is probably some form of cover liquid which, when evaporating, reveals the red dye. I have replied more coherently on the talk page.

On a side note, please try not to make any edits to the Bleach articles before checking that the recent edits made are proper. For example, this edit was vandalism but I can't just revert it now since you already edited (therefore need to remove it manually).

[edit] concerning "vandal" 69.156.114.137 in bleach

You mentioned that we should consider banning 69.156.114.137, but I think that its entirely possibly that he/she hasn't seen the latest episodes/chapters, and may actually be under the impression that we are vandals when we revert it. I know that sounds odd, but stranger things have happened you know. I'm going to leave a comment on the talk page specificially telling them that Aizen and such actually are no longer Captains, then only resort to more action if the problem continues. Thanks. --Anaraug 04:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

Hmm. I hope the message I left gets seen then. Oh well. --Anaraug 04:21, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bleach popularity

Not a problem. Just so you know, Shōnen Jump is famous (some would say infamous) for running character popularity polls constantly. Ichigo's staying at the top is actually quite notable, when compared with manga like Rurouni Kenshin or Hikaru No Go, where the most popular character seemed to change almost every time they introduced someone new and only rarely was the main character. --tjstrf 06:58, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Samurai Champloo

I created template:Samurai Champloo for the series. Also: The debate on screen caps in episode lists may be shaping up in such a way that they may be able to be included in the longer episode synopses. So, I may be adding them soon. --Kunzite 20:10, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

One should do it.. but, no more than two.. See: Sakura Card Arc: 47-59 for a good example of a long episode sumamry with a screenshot. --Kunzite 20:19, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] OBJECTION!

The "OBJECTION" was (as the wikilink suggested) a reference to the game Phoenix Wright, and was intended simply as a slightly more tongue-in-cheek intensifier than going "Wait, wait, WTF?" or something similar.

My complaint here is that adding summaries to an already huge list will extend it beyond all managable length. (This is in no way helped by the knowledge that you were the author of that immensely over-the-top article in the Samurai Champloo section) Even if you break it into parts, we simply do not need gigantic Also that detailed summary is against WP:FICTION's guidlines, and destroys the purpose of a list, which is to have a brief overview of a large amount of information in one easy location. Additionally, you need to be a bit more careful on your copyediting, from what I saw that you had already written. --tjstrf 23:07, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
