Maktar

Maktar (Arabic: مكتر‎) (Mactaris) is a town and Roman site in northern Tunisia. It is located at around 35°51′38″N, 9°12′21″E. The town was founded by Numidians. It was destroyed by Banu Hillal tribe in the 10th century. The modern town, at over 1000m above sea level, stands on the other side of the ravine from the Roman remains and is known for its scenic views and mild climate.
