- Hello there, reader! I am glad you have decided to check your sources. That is a most wise choice, especially considering today's world of ever-changing information, facts, lies, beliefs, and biased opinions. I exist as a wiki-writer in order to accomplish three primary goals: 1)To spread factual, unbiased knowledge on any given subject to other people; 2)To correct any falacies currently on Wikipedia; 3)To make the reading of articles smoother and easier to follow (that is, editing and revising).
- I am a 16-year-old Junior attending a catholic highschool in the North Eastern United States. I realize that I am yet quite far from achieving my goal of total omnicience, and as such deign to leave well-written and informative articles to themselves and not spread any untruths of my own accidental making. However, I frequently add information to "stub" articles, provided I have a relatively large bank of knowledge of the subject to draw upon. More frequently I read an article and, finding myself offended by the lack of regard for any linguistic rules whatsoever, edit it as appropriate, usually by means of rearranging words or correcting their spelling.
- As a non-electronic individual I am quite interested in languages. In 6th and 7th grade I took Japanese, but in 8th grade the school chose to offer Spanish instead. The "teacher" was completely incompetent, so it stands as the only class in which I purposely attempted to do my very worst. The effort failed miserably. When I entered high school two years ago I took up Latin, and loved it from the start. I plan to pursue the language to the fullest extent. In college, depending on my options, I plan to take another modern language (preferably Italian), and am toying with the idea of becoming a professional linguist. I also particularly enjoy history, especially that dealing with ancient or lost civilizations. My favorite historical subject is ancient Rome. All of this is directly related to my wonderfully overactive imagination (hence my preference for reading Fantasy-fiction). As a direct result of the aforementioned condition, my ideal conversation is one discussing philosophy or theology. I value knowledge and thought above all else in this world, and thus love to exercise them to their fullest extent. A debate of the unknowable, of the unprovable, of the intangible, is what keeps me interested. Though I read shamefully slowly, I enjoy literature a great deal.* I am a writer; Every year I participate in NaNoWriMo, or the National Novel Writing Month. To date, I have written one "novel", of the fantasy genre, which I quickly realized was a complete failiure, so I turned it mid-chapter into a satire on itself and a ridiculous parody of many other books or movies. This year I am attempting to co-found a writing club with my good friend, to be independant of our school.
(*Note: I consider very few American Classics to be great works of literature. The only one I approve of and avidly support is To Kill a Mockingbird. Others include The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia.)
