Major Street-basketball Foundation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
MSF (Major Street-basketball Foundation) is an Australian non-profit and voluntary foundation. It is dedicated to bringing the basketball culture together as one.
MSF was founded in Melbourne by David Coles and Andre Gorgievski, in the early summer of 2002. The lack of opportunities and sense of community influenced David and Andre to make something happen. MSF has a vision to promote and develop the game of basketball, create opportunities and experiences of the game for everybody and to give basketball players a sense of culture and community amongst other Australians who love basketball.
Basketball is an underground sport in Australia, behind Australian Rules Football and Rugby in the media, but in actual fact, Basketball is played by more Australians than Football and Rugby. MSF has hosted and managed some of Australia's biggest ever basketball tournaments, at the Royal Melbourne Show and Moomba Waterfest, two of Australia's largest community festivals. MSF basketball tournaments are free to the public, the staff work voluntarily and the sponsors cover any costs.
