Major Organ and the Adding Machine
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Major Organ and the Adding Machine is thought to be the side project of Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Mangum and Julian Koster.[1] After submitting a track to a Kindercore Records Christmas compilation in 1997, they recorded a self-titled album and released it on Orange Twin Records in 2001.
The liner notes of their album leave it a mystery as to who officially is featured. It is generally believed that Mangum and Koster are the main musicians in the group (which bears a strong affinity to Koster's project, The Music Tapes), but it is believed that a variety of Elephant Six musicians also contributed, including members of The Olivia Tremor Control, Elf Power, and Of Montreal.
Andrew Rieger of Elf Power in an interview with the Elephant 6 fan site, Optical Atlas [[1]], disclosed that there is a Major Organ film in the works. The release date is unknown, but Rieger did say "soon".
