Since the second world war, exactly 1329 yellow jerseys have been rewarded in the Tour de France to 186 different persons, including the 2006 Tour de France.

Persons in bold have also won the Tour de France, persons in italic are still active. The victory of Floyd Landis is contested and could be awarded to Óscar Pereiro. In previous tours, sometimes a stage was broken in two (or three). On such occasions, only the cyclist leading at the end of the day is counted. Three cyclists have won the Tour de France with only two yellow jerseys.
