Mai Yamani

Dr Mai Yamani (born 1957) is a Saudi-Arabian activist , writer and an Anthropologist . Best known for her book Changed Identities: Challenges of the New Generation in Saudi Arabia (Arabic: هويات متغيرة : تحديات الجيل الجديد في السعودية ). Dr Yamani is currently a research fellow at the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London. She attended Oxford University where she obtained her PhD in Social Anthropology . She is the daughter of Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani who gained international fame as Saudi Arabia's Minister of Petroleum Affairs.

She also received her AB degree (Summa cum Laude: Highest honors) from Bryn Mawr College outside of Philadelphia.
