Maheshtala (Bengali: মহেশতলা) is a city and a municipality in South 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Maheshtala had a population of 389,214. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Maheshtala has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 63%.
