Mahatma Gandhi University

Mahatma Gandhi University, formerly known as Gandhiji University, was established on 2 October 1983 in Kottayam. The university has 183 affiliated colleges spread over five districts in central Kerala. Besides this, it has 21 teaching and research departments or schools, six information centres and three study centres. The important schools of the university include School of Management and Business Studies, School of Chemical Sciences, School of Medical Education, School of Gandhian Thought and Development Studies, School of Biosciences and School of International Relations. University offers various academic programmes in the fields of Gandhian Thought, Polymer Chemistry, Hospital administration and Environmental Management among others.

Currently Prof.(Dr.) Jancy James is the Vice Chancellor and Prof. K K Unuskutty is the Pro Vice Chancellor.

Mahatma Gandhi University of sciences [MGUS] is institution of the university devoted to the science stream.
