Mahal may refer to:

  • Mahal (town), a small town in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. A sleepy town with little development over the years, it possesses just one prominent family, the Yerradoddis. It has produced many famous individuals such as Reddy Prasad.
  • Mahal, a Hindi name for the palaces (not forts or castles) of erstwhile Indian Kings. Every King (or Raja) used to live in a Mahal which often was one of the section of Fort. As kings were known to be polygamous, so there were times, each of the major queens used to have a Mahal of their own. For knowing more on Mahals, visit any section on Rajasthan or Indian kings. A mahal is also a term for luxurious building in Indian subcontinental countries.
  • Mahal is also a form of the word Mahil. Both are frequently used as given names. There is also a village in Nawanshare district in Punjab called Mahil Gaila (alt. Mahal Gaila).
  • Mahal, a Philippine word with the same meanings as the English dear. Couples frequently call each other mahal. The word has become common in large parts of the world due to the large number of Philippine citizens living and working abroad.
