Mahakali River

The Mahakali is a river between Nepal and India. It is called Kaliganga in India and Mahakali in Nepal. It is the current boundary limit between these countries. It is known as Kali in Nepal and Sharda in India. It was named after Mahakali, the Hindu goddess of rage and courage. The main tributaries are the Limpiyadhura and the Chamelia.

It was the site of the Nepalese military base prior to the Anglo-Nepal War.

The villages of Chadani, Dodhara, Dharchula, Kalika, Balwakote, Jauljibi, Titri, Handeshar, Jhulaghat, Pancheshwar, Tanakpur, etc. lie to the west of Mahakali river.
