Since magic is a specific field, which a lot of people are not be knowledgeable about, magic articles are not likely to receive attention at the other Collaboration of the Week projects.

This project aims to fill gaps about the magic in Wikipedia, to give users a focus and to give us all something to be proud of. You can find a list of magic-related articles on the project page. Anyone can nominate an article and can vote for the nominated articles. Every Sunday, the votes are tallied, and the winner will be promoted for a week to potential contributors.

The current Magic Collaboration of the Week is List of magic tricks
All those who are interested are cordially invited to help improve this article. If you are not interested in this article, the template will update each week to keep you informed as to the current MCOTW article.

Each week a Magic Collaboration of the Week will be picked using this page. This is a specific topic which either has no article or a basic stub page that is directly related to the Magic, the aim being to have a featured-standard article by the end of the week, from widespread cooperative editing.

Contents

[edit] Selecting the next Collaboration of the Week

The next winner will be selected on Sunday, July 17, 18:00 (UTC).

[edit] Voting

Please vote for as many of the following candidates as you like. Please add only support votes. Opposing votes will not affect the result, as the winner is simply the one with the most support votes (see Approval voting).

Remember: Any registered Wikipedian can vote on this page.

To enter your votes, simply edit the appropriate sections by just inserting a new line with "# ~~~~". This will add your username and a time stamp in a new numbered list item.

[edit] Tie-breakers

In case of a tie, voting will be extended for 24 hours. If there is still a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins.

[edit] How to nominate an article

(1) Copy the template below
(2) Paste it at the bottom of the list of nominations
(3) Replace "[Date]" with the correct date and "[Date + 7 days]" with the date, plus seven days. For both, the year is not necessary.
(4) Sign your user name with the directions in the template and add a comment for why the article should be nominated.
(5) Please preview your addition to make it sure all information is properly filled in and the links are working.

New nominations can be made at any time and should be added at the end of this page. Please use the template.

*[a short description explaining why the article should be the Magic Collaboration of the week]

If the page you are nominating already exists, please add {{Magic COTW candidate|Thispage=Article name}} to the top of its talk page. This expands to:

This article has been nominated as a possible Magic Collaboration of the Week. To add your support, go to its listing.

If the article is selected as the MCOTW, the template {{Current Magic COTW}} should go at the top of the article page. This expands to:

This is the current Magic Collaboration of the week! Please help improve it to featured article standard.

[edit] Considerations for nominations

  • Please only nominate magic articles which don't currently exist or are stubs. (Two paragraphs or less of information or fewer than 1,000 characters). If you have an article that is not related to magic please use Collaboration of the Week, which is not specific to any subject.
  • For non-stubs, submitting the article to pages needing attention, cleanup, peer review, or requests for expansion may be more appropriate. (Non-stub articles might be eligeble in the future)
  • Giving reasons as to why an article should become the MCOTW may assist others in casting their vote.
