Talk:Maguey worm
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am quite certain that A. hesperiaris is not the worm usually employed in Mezcal bottling and known as "gusano del maguey". As might be surmised from this link, the honor goes to Scyphophorus acupunctatus, the agave weevil. This should be fixed (although we lack an article on the weevil, there's one at the Spanish wikipedia). Taragüí @ 10:52, 24 October 2005 (UTC)
- Now, to make it worse, I've found a good many references to Hypopta agavis, it being the "red worm" considered best for taste, in contrast to S. acupunctatus, the "white worm". This is messier than it seemed. Taragüí @ 14:02, 25 October 2005 (UTC)

Which family? Is it a lepidopteran at all? This needs a taxobox too. AshLin 19:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
