[edit] Biography
Singer-songwriter may be an accurate term for his role as a musician, but it may not accurately describe his talent, which extends beyond the term "Singer-songwriter." Johansen draws upon many influences including folk, pop, and electronic. His albums are composed and produced solely by him. It is also not uncommon for Johansen to perform a set on his own, using preset loops or creating them as he plays.
Even Johansen was born on June 7, 1970 in Bergen, Norway. Even also lived for some time just outside the Southern Scottish town of Lockerbie, where he recorded his On Your Side album. Since he was a child Even Johansen has been surrounded by music. His older brothers were in bands and his father was a touring jazz musician. Johansen picked up his first guitar at a very young age, although it only had four strings on it. He has previously been a member of Libido and Chocolate Overdose. During his involvement with Libido, Johansen conceived a series of songs he thought were inappropriate for the band. Thus, his first solo album, Quiet & Still, was released in the Spring of 2001 under his real name. His subsequent albums, On Your Side (2003) and The Tourniquet (2005), were released under the alias Magnet. In 2006, he contributed several songs to the soundtrack of the video game, Dreamfall.
