Maggie and the Ferocious Beast is a programme based on the books by Michael Paraskevas and his mother Betty. It currently airs on Nick Jr. and Noggin.
Five-year-old Maggie creates her own map of her imaginary world Nowhere Land. She imagines that her stuffed toys Beast and Hamilton Hocks come to life. The show also features friends like mice, cows, and rabbits.
The theme song for the show is: "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast in Nowhere Land / In Nowhere Land / Come along if you can." Maggie and The Ferocious Beast is produced by Nelvana Limited and directed by Jamie Whiteney. The series debuted in 2000.
[edit] Main characters
- Maggie: Voiced by Kristen Bone.
- The Ferocious Beast: who is not very scary and ferocious though he can shout louder than anybody. His favourite catchphrase is "Great Googly Moogly!", which he says several times per episode. The Beast loves pumpkins and has an impressive pumpkin patch.
- Hamilton Hocks: the stuffed pig. Hamilton is sometimes a bit bossy but Maggie still loves him. Hamilton is also an excellent chef. His name is apparently derived from "ham hocks." He lives inside a portable cardboard box.
- Rudy the Mouse: a cheese-loving mouse who lives in a cheese flat in a land of cheese named Cheeseland (referred to as Cheese Town in some episodes). It is revealed in one episode that Rudy's hat does not come off.
- Nedley the Rabbit: he loves carrots and will do nothing to swap for something else. Nedley speaks in rhymes. He says rhymes almost all through every episode, but sometimes he talks normally a little bit before starting his rhyme again.
- The Kindly Giant: is not at all scary but kind-hearted. The others are scared at first but they soon get use to him. He owns a garden full of fruit and vegetables. His face is never shown and he only appears in a few episodes. He is big and strong. This is why the Beast appears to be small. Even the giant is bigger than him and his friends. Even Rudy the mouse!
- The Moo Sisters: three cows who live in a village named Mooville. They never stop singing.
- The Jellybean Team - a group of eight jellybeans.
- The Triplets: Maggie's baby nephews (Max Oscar Zak). They sometimes get up to mischief and run off though they are loving.
- BB Cats - The new character included with Raven living at the Murk Bridge.
- Sidestep - a crab.
