- October 28, 1912: Station begins operation.
- October 24, 1968: Yanaizu Line in created.
- December 11, 1977: The Yanizu Line is extended to Motoyoshi to join the south end of the Kesennuma Line. The full line is known as the Kesennuma Line.
- July 26, 2003: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake derails a train locally.
