[Madame Regina] Madame Regina, “Creator of All Things Weird and Wonderful,” is, above all, an ardent spokeswoman on transgender issues and concerns. She is also an artist, writer, social and political pundit, and astute observer of la condition humaine. Her commentary and observations are found on her website: www.madameregina.com.
A self-proclaimed “drag queen,” she was the only biologically male child to born to an Eastern European immigrant family. At age four she realized a gender error had been inflicted upon her at birth and, as a result, her early years were marked by profound inner turmoil. However, as a young adult, Madame Regina discovered, much to her great relief, that she is transgendered; that is, her gender identity is in conflict with her biological sex.
Before committing herself entirely to her current full time pursuits, Madame Regina received formal training in the fine arts, dedicating herself to painting and sculpting while holding professional positions in both the corporate and non-profit sectors.
One of her current projects is “The Excellent History of Madame Regina” (this title deftly plucked from Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice”) featured on her website. This ongoing tale chronicles the early exploits of her ancestors and satirizes the manners and mores of immigrant life. Snarky and irreverent, she details stories of her relations in a series of weekly episodes – from their arrival in the United States on the S.S. Boot Todes! and their subsequent settlement in the city of big hairy shoulders (where they were able to routinely enjoy sandwiches with meat) to the escapades of Uncle Vlashko as well as Dima and Darko and their son, “little Mikosh,” her childhood alter ego.
Madame resides in major American metropolis near a large body of water. She is an avid reader and film buff. Her first novel is slated to appear in 2006.
