Madame C.J Walker's First Husband was Mooses McWilliams'
[edit] The subject's preferred title
According to the official MCJW website, her title was Madam (not 'Madame') CJ Walker, although the theatre that takes her name in Indianapolis is the MadamE C.J. Walker Theatre. Is there a way to edit the main title of the article (and to eliminate the space between the C and the J)? Notreallydavid 18:15, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Yes there is a way to do that, could you put a link to the website here so we can verify? Then changing the title isn't difficult. Looking at products from the time though, the name is spelt Madam C.J. Walker or Mme. C.J. Walker, always with the periods after C and J. I see this is they away on the official website too, so I've moved the article to the correct name. pschemp | talk 18:46, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks and well done re: the title-tweaking - here's the link with the nomenclature bit... http://www.walkertheatre.com/about_us.htm
Since you're smart and helpful, do you have any info on Madam W's involvement with the theatre in Indianapolis? Her official website has nothing to say about this. For the record, I'm British; I lived in Indy for six months a few years ago, but I'm back in sidewalk-vomit-land now, so I'm not in the best place to find out. Regards, Notreallydavid 01:39, 5 December 2006 (UTC) Her husband name was moses Mcwillaims

comment; well to me madam cj is just special she gave all african american women the courage to wear there hair out and looking good not tied back in some rag or pulled back just beause its " nappy" but beacause it sets the african american race aside from the other races madam cj walker developed a way for all african american women to wear their hair looking nice! She made her self the richest and most succesful black woman of that era!

Maybe it is just me, but does this article seem to be getting more vandal hits than previous past experience? Ronbo76 04:53, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
