Madukkur is a panchayat town in Thanjavur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a small town situated in southern part of Tamil Nadu. It is 11 km from Pattukkottai. It is surrounded with number of villages. Being in Gavery River Delta Area, People’s main occupation is Agriculture. The new generation is well educated and they work in foreign countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UK and USA. The business is booming in line with India’s economic development. Recently a new school in the name of The Western Matriculation School is started to give the best education to children. As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Madukkur had a population of 15,171. Males constitute 47% of the population and females 53%. Madukkur has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 67%. In Madukkur, 12% of the population is under 6 years
