Madison Township is one of the 18 townships that make up Richland County, Ohio, United States. It is part of the Mansfield, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 14,680, which makes it the most populous township in Richland County, Ohio. It is one of twenty Madison Townships in Ohio.

Madison Township is located at 40°47'22" North, 82°28'36" West (40.789444, -82.476666)GR1.

Madison Township is bordered by the City of Mansfield, Franklin Township and Weller Township to the north, Mifflin Township to the east, Washington Township to the south, Springfield Township to the west, Jackson Township on the northwest tip, Troy Township on the southwest tip and Monroe Township on the southeast tip.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 25.3 km² (15.7 mi²). All of the township is land and none of it is covered with water.

The township government consists of three trustees, who share the executive and legislative powers, and a township clerk. The township does not have a judicial system; major cases are dealt with through the Richland County court system and minor ones through the Mansfield Municipal Court.

The local school district is Madison Local Schools, and the high school is Madison Comprehensive High School.
