[edit] Aldermanic career

Haithcock serves as the chairperson of the Committee of Special Events and Cultural Affairs. She is the vice chairperson for the Committee on Education and Committee on License and Consumer Services. In the February 27, 2007 election she faced a challenge from a field of five other candidates[1]. Because she was not able to achieve a majority of votes she will stand in a runoff election on April 17, 2007. In her ward she is challenged by Bob Fioretti who won the election primary with 28% of the vote. Haithcock has been widely criticized for being out of touch with her ward residents, and beholden to developers and other special interests who contribute large amounts to her campaign. She has also been criticized for using her Ward office to employ family members and relatives. [2].
