Madeleine Astrid Gurdon, Lady Lloyd-Webber, is a former equestrian sportswoman and the third wife of musical theatre impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The daughter of a British Army Brigadier, Gurdon was a clothing designer turned equestrian competitor [1]. Gurdon meet Lloyd Webber through his Watership Down neighbours, who loved horses [2].

After his divorce from Sarah Brightman, to avoid publicity the couple announced they would marry at Lloyd Webber's Hampshire home on 9 February 1991. They also issued a letter which stated that after some thought about the war in the Persian Gulf, the couple came to this conclusion: "We feel we should not give in to the forces that have caused this situation and that we should continue with the party." [3] However, the couple actually married a week earlier in private in London, before a ceremony on the 9 February in Suffolk. [4]

The couple have three children: Alastair (born 3 May 1992), William (born 24 August 1993), and Isabella (born 30 April 1996).
