Maddison Hall, born Noel Crompton in 1964, is an Australian HIV-positive transsexual and convicted murderer. In 1987, she shot and killed hitchhiker Lyn Saunders at Gol Gol, New South Wales.
She began hormone treatment while in prison, and was transferred to a women's prison (Mulawa Correctional Centre) in 1999. She underwent sex reassignment surgery while in prison in 2003, at government expense. Initially, Corrective Services refused the surgery, but Hall was successful in a legal challenge to the decision. At Mulawa, it is alleged that she raped several female prisoners. She was charged with rape in one incident, but the charge was dropped due to the victim having left the country upon being released from prison. She was granted parole in 2006, but a media campaign resulted in the parole being rescinded.[1]
