Macho, Italian-American disco/R&B band.

Guadeloupe born French-Italian businessman Jacques Fred Petrus (1949-1986) and Italian musician Mauro Malavasi (1958-) formed a joint production company called Goody Music Production [GMP) in the mid 70s. Their first common studio project in 1978 was called Macho featuring Italian Marzio Vincenti as lead singer. The originally classically educated Malavasi wrote, arranged and produced all the tracks. The band experienced one hit song in the United States, the 17:42 long disco oriented cover of I'm a Man, which was originally done by Spencer Davis Group in 1967 and written by Steve Winwood. The track hit top ten on Billboard's Dance charts in October 1978. At the request of many radio stations, a shortened seven minute version was also released. The album that only included four extended tracks was by Mauro Malavasi
