Macedon is a village located in the Town of Macedon in Wayne County, New York, United States. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,496.

The Village of Macedon is in the south-central part of the town and is southeast of Rochester, NY.

The village of Macedon is also home to Boy Scout Troop 166.

Macedon became and inland port, located on the Erie Canal (completed in 1825). The village was incorporated in 1856. Lock 30 of the canal, located in Macedon, is in use during the canal season.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and 0.81% is water.

The village is located on the Erie Canal and the junction of New York State Route 31, New York State Route 31F, and New York State Route 350.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 1,496 people, 558 households, and 412 families residing in the village. The population density was 473.4/km² (1,222.6/mi²). There were 580 housing units at an average density of 183.6/km² (474.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.26% White, 1.00% Black or African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.07% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.33% of the population.

There were 558 households out of which 39.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.11.

In the village the population was spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 32.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $45,774, and the median income for a family was $55,288. Males had a median income of $39,250 versus $27,738 for females. The per capita income for the village was $19,503. About 5.6% of families and 7.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.6% of those under age 18 and 12.0% of those age 65 or over.
