Macedo de Cavaleiros (pron. IPA: [mɐ'sedu dɨ kɐvɐ'lɐiɾuʃ]) is a municipality in northeastern Portugal, in the district of Bragança.
The municipality is composed of 38 parishes and is located in the district of Bragança.
The present mayor is Beraldino Vilarinho Pinto, elected by the Social Democratic Party.
The municipal holiday is June 29.
[edit] Coat of arms and flag
The coat of arms of Macedo de Cavaleiros is made up of 9 silver snowflakes with three at the top and another three at the bottom in a u-curve shape in black. In the centre there is a small grey crest with a leaf of a chesnut. There is a crown at the top with five castle towers. The flag is green and yellow from left to right with the seal in the middle.

All the parishes except Macedo de Cavaleiros itself have populations under 1,000, and Morais is the only other parish with a population greater than 500. 11,362 people, or 65.12% of the total population live in those parishes with a population of less than 1,000 with the remaining 34.88%, more than 1/3 of the total population living in Macedo de Cavaleiros. At the other extreme the smallest parish by population and population density is Soutelo Mourisco. The largest parish by area is Morais, the smallest Santa Combinha.
