Mac Cuilinn

MacCuillinn or Mac Cuillann is an Irish surname. The name can be translated as 'son of holly' in the Irish Language. While there is no letter Q in the Irish alphabet, the name has become commonly anglicised as McQuillan, or MacQuillan.
This name appears in Irish myths. The family are thought to have been Celtic Kings between the 5th and 12th century.
The McQuillan family (the descendants of the Mac Cuilinns)went on to build Dunluce Castle, County Antrim, Ireland and became Lords of Antrim
