The Village of Lytton is a corporate entity created under the Community Charter Act. The elections for the Village Council are held every three years with the next election scheduled to be held in November, 2008. Currently the Mayor of the Village is Chris O'Connor, who has held the position since 1999, Peter McArthur(1996?, Jessoa Lightfoot(2005), Denise McIntyre(2005), and Rita McKay(2005). The primary priorities of the Council currently are improvements to the Village water system and formation of a sub-regional government with the five adjacent First Nations.
