Lyondell Chemical Company NYSE: LYO is an American multinational corporation based in Houston, Texas.

The Lyondell Chemical Company is currently the third largest chemical manufacturer in the United States. Since its establishment in 1985 from certain facilities belonging to the Atlantic Richfield Company (ARCO), the company has grown through various acquistions and is currently a Fortune 500 company that operates in 5 continents and employs over 11,000 people. Lyondell is the global leader in Propylene oxide production and is the largest North American supplier of Styrene monomer. Other Lyondell products include Ethylene, Polyethylene, and Titanium dioxide

Lyondell acquired Millennium Chemicals, Inc. in a stock-for-stock business combination on November 30, 2004. In August, 2006, Lyondell acquired the Lyondell-Citgo Refining LP in a transaction valued at around $2.1 billion.

Throughout the year, Lyondell provides dedicated training sessions to all its Engineering staff ranging from interns to senior engineers. Lyondell has also implemented an engineering rotation program to provide its engineers with exposure to various locations, cultures, and technologies.
