Lyon and Healy

Lyon and Healy (founded in 1889) is one of the two major harp manufacturers in the world, with its headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. Lyon and Healy merged with Salvi Harps a few years ago. A long time ago, it made violins, pianos, mandolins, guitars, organs, and other instruments. Lyon and Healy harps were originally an improvement on Sebastian Erard's harps, but now include many different styles and sizes. Lyon & Healy had many stores throughout the Chicago area. Oak Park, Oak Brook, Evanston, but the maine store was at Wabash and Jackson downtown Chicago. It had three four floors + basement. The main floor was for records and sheet music. Second floor was for pianos and organs, and also Fisher Stereo Equiptment, Some furniture style TV's were also offered! The third floor was for Harps, Guitars, Band instruments and accessories. The third floored also boasted of having two repair shops, one for Violins and Harps, and the other for band instruments and guitars. The Music Education division was moved to the fourth floor from the third floor early in 1976. In 1978 CBS Corporation which owned Fender at the time purchased the Lyon & Healy company. That same year it closed down all of the stores except the Lyon & Healy Harps which was being manufactured on Ogden Ave in Chicago.

Their harps are named by numbers including the widely used and recognizable Style 23 Gold.
