Lyon's
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Lyon's is a restaurant chain based out of Sacramento, California. The menu is similar to that of Dennys. Lyon's used to have dozens of units in northern Nevada and northern California (as far south as San Luis Obispo). In 2001, Lyons filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and the then 72 company owned stores were folded or sold to franchisees. Only about ten company owned units still remain (Yuba City, Sacramento (3), Emeryville, Carmichael, Placerville, Petaluma, Milpitas, Vallejo, and Grass Valley, CA. units). It was founded about 1952 in San Francisco. It was until 1989 owned by Sara Lee, which sold the then 65 chain unit to private investors. After a bankruptcy in 1998 it was acquired by ICH, an Arby's franchisee. It was sold by ICH in 2001 to Amber Lao, a San Diego restaurant owner..
Prior to its financial-hardships, Lyons aired television commercials with the slogan, "You'll flip for the food."
Strangely, the chain never operated a web site.
