[edit] {{web-screenshot}} tag

I've noticed you've uploaded some images tagged with {{web-screenshot}}. This tag is not meant to be used for images that came from Web pages; it's meant to be used for images of Web pages (such as Image:Wikipedia.PNG, for example). I've retagged the images below as having no license information. Please edit the image description pages to include information about the licenses these images are under. —Bkell 04:13, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] La liga and solidaridad

The images are superb. Please be cautious though as wikipedia has an issue about proper copyright sources. (This is not a condoning of those images but I don't have the time to investigate)Best regards--Jondel 06:31, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright problems with Image:06v.jpg

An image that you uploaded, Image:06v.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Copyright problems because it is a suspected copyright violation. Please look there if you know that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), and then provide the necessary information there and on its page, if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

[edit] East Coast Filipino MCs

Just got in from NYC minutes ago... So, you're asking about Fil-Am MCs on the East Coast of the USA? I must have been referring to Joe Bataan. I guess he was more of a salsa/soul guy who did rap a bit when rap became hip in the late '70s/early '80s. He's half Filipino and half African American. But I think he's already in the article. Was I talking about something else? I'm confused. Badagnani 03:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Problems with references at Filipino hip hop

I have no idea why you're having that problem. I've never had any kind of problem like this. Let me know what the reference is and where it goes and I can try to add it. You mean you're adding a link at the end of a sentence as a reference? That should be easy enough. Badagnani 22:02, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I added the link successfully at the end of the mobile DJ paragraph. See if it's the right link, and in the right place. Badagnani 22:42, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: help

What do you need? I might be able to help. Or if you have IRC, you could try joining #wikipedia-bootcamp and somebody might be able to assist you. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 11:32, Jan. 30, 2006

Hello. Thanks for the quick response! I was just wondering about how would you go about uploading music samples to a page on wikipedia?Wikipedian13 11:38, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
Use Special:Upload just as you would for an image. See Wikipedia:Media for the guidelines on that. I'm not too sure on that. I'll leave the help tag up in case somebody else has more input. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 11:48, Jan. 30, 2006
Hi, I just thought I'd mention that audio has to be uploaded in Ogg Vorbis format. If your sound is in another format, you'll have to convert it using some program. The audio guidelines recommend Audacity. Talrias (t | e | c) 12:59, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

thanks! i'll go ahead and try that.Wikipedian13 21:02, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, what can we help you with? It's easiest if you could join us on IRC (see above) but if not, just place your question here.--JoanneB 23:27, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Hello, thx for the quick response! I was just wondering how I should go about downloading music samples on wikipedia. Everytime I try to download them (in Ogg format) I get a message saying that windows cannot open this file. Is there a media player for Ogg files that I need to download? thx. Wikipedian13 23:32, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Audio_help has instructions for playing the Ogg files, you can use Windows Media Player - it has instructions there explaining how.--Commander Keane 23:39, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Apl.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Apl.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Wgfinley 14:10, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Pilita.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Pilita.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 14:14, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Promotional images

Hi Wikipedian13. Most of your recent image uploads — such as Image:FreestyleDatuvDetox.jpg, Image:Pinoyluv.jpg, Image:Boodabandila.jpg — do not fit the narrow definition of publicity photos. They will have to be removed from articles and deleted if another fair use rationale can not be found, or unless they are released under a license compatible with Wikipedia. In the meantime, please refrain from tagging additional images with {{Promotional}} unless you are certain they meet the requirements described in Wikipedia:Publicity photos. Thanks. ×Meegs 12:44, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Qbertip2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Qbertip2.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - Tragic Baboon (banana receptacle) 11:26, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:WeThePeopleFists.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:WeThePeopleFists.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you.
