Guys, Can someone link the "Universal Grammar (UG)" to the "Linguistics" entry of Wiki? I don't know how to do that. But yea, in "Linguistics" page, there is an explanation of what UG is.

A single teaching award hardly qualifies a person for a biography here. Actually, teaching awards often signify that a professor just isnt' serious about research. At any rate, this person lacks sufficient notability for inclusion in this encyclopedia. Sorry. Rklawton 04:14, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey wait!

She doesn't only havce a single award. She is in the advising committee of many journals in her area. Just give the article one or more days. I am sure many people will edit it. But why are you so harsh for such a famnous person. She is like the first author in all edited books on the area since she started the field. I am myself a student in sla.

I really cannot understand the ignorance of the people here. She is THE most notable researcher in the area!!! I am not her student or something, but this is just true. Just do a google search. And please don't attack such a person's character just because you are jealous.

Also, it was reposted by someone else AFTER my warnings about how important she is. Again, I have no connection with this person, and I live in a totally different country. Just check my IP. Plus, do a google search please. I hope that at least one admin who knows the area of linguistics will understand the serious mistake that others are doing here.

[edit] Notability

The article failed to assert her notability. It made no mention of her books or articles. Simply writing that someone is famous isn't enough. When asked for information about notability, none was provided. However, as you suggested, a bit of Google searching did turn up sufficient evidence. I've added enough of that information to the article to assert sufficient notability for the time being. I'll do what I can to un-do the deletion nomination as well. In the mean time, I highly suggest that an editor research this person to a better degree and include information about her contributions to her field. Those are the sorts of things that illustrate notability. Rklawton 04:33, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Hey thanks for being fair Rklawton! I thought you are too obstinate. :) OK enough for me tonight. I will not try to keep this article any more.

No worries. I only wish I was perfect (I think). Fortunately, I know better. I've updated the AfD page to reflect my mistake. The voting should turn out in favor of keeping the article. Rklawton 04:40, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
