Luxio (ルクシオ Rukushio?, Luxio in original Japanese language versions) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise—a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards, and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Luxio in the games, anime, and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon—untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments—and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]
Luxio's name is a portmanteau of the words lux, the SI unit of illuminance, and Leo, the latin word for lion.

[edit] Biological characteristics
It has a darkish-blue mane around its face, unlike its pre-evolution, Shinx. It also has two yellow rings around each of its front legs, whereas Shinx only has one around each. The tufts of hair in a male Luxio's mane are longer than those of the female. Similar to Shinx, the portions of blue on a Luxio's hind legs are longer for females. Overall, it can be described as a young lion.
[edit] In the video games
Luxio is a fairly strong physical attacker with its Attack stat being the highest. It has improved from its status as a Shinx, although its Defense and Special Defense stats are still quite low.
Luxio evolves from Shinx at level 15; it evolves into Rentorer at level 30. Strangely, it starts out with more happiness.
