[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:PattiLPdebut.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PattiLPdebut.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 23:18, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

HI, I UNDERSTAND YOUR STATEMENT PERFECTLY BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THAT SUCH CRITERIA REALLY APPLY TO AN LP COVER. AN LP COVER IS SOMETHING WIDELY EXPOSED IN EVERY KIND OF WEBSITE, I NEVER HEARD OF SOMEONE WHO HAD TO ASK FOR AN AUTHORIZATION TO USE AN LP COVER IMAGE, AND I DOUBT THAT THE ZILLION WIKIPEDIA PAGES SHOWING ALBUM COVERS REQUIRED THAT THE USERS GOT A LICENCE FROM WHOMEVER. PLEASE CHECK THIS OR DELETE ALL ALBUM COVERS FROM ALL MUSIC ARTISTS DISCOGRAPHY PAGES TO DO SOME JUSTICE HERE. (LunarBoy)

An LP cover or other album cover is no less copyrighted than any other work of creative effort. It doesn't matter if it's displayed to the public or not, and widespread copyright infringement doesn't make it any less illegal. --Carnildo 07:11, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
  • Ok, SO YOU WANNA TELL ME THAT EVERYBODY WHO POSTED LP COVERS ON WIKIPEDIA CONTACTED THE RECORD LABEL OR WHATEVER BEFORE POSTING? I HAD ALREADY ASKED YOU ABOUT IT BEFORE WITH NO ANSWER UNTIL NOW. THANKS IN ADVANCE. (LunarBoy)

[edit] Who Is It (Björk song)

Please do not move or rename a page by copying/pasting its content, because doing so destroys the edit history. The GFDL requires acknowledgement of all contributors, and editors continue to hold copyright on their contributions unless they specifically give up this right. Hence it is required that edit histories be preserved for all major contributions until the normal copyright expires. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages. [edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- dockingmantalk 20:52, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
