Lunacon

Lunacon is an annual science fiction/fantasy convention organized by the New York Science Fiction Society better known as The Lunarians. Commonly, it is held the third weekend of March. It is similar to conventions like Arisia, I-CON and WorldCon. The programming consists of a mix of all things fannish including anime, panel discussions on a variety of topics, filk music, crafts workshops, an art show and auction, a game room and a large Masquerade.
[edit] 2006 Lunacon
This year's Lunacon occurred March 17-20, 2006 in the Hasbrouck Heights Hilton. It was generally considered to go off well, unlike the year before, at a different hotel, considering that the hotel was still under renovation. This was the 49th lunacon.

[edit] 2007 Lunacon
The 2007 Lunacon is officially named Lunacon 50 in honor of being the 50th that has been held by the New York Science Fiction Society - the Lunarians. It also marks the return after 2 years in New Jersey to the convention's long time venue at the The Rye Town Hilton, which is referred to by the fans as the "Escher" Hilton due to its construction that includes the infamous "Transdimensional Corridor" that allows the attendees to walk from the 4th floor to the function areas on the 7th floor without needing to use any stairs or elevators. The convention is scheduled to occur March 16th-18th, 2007.
