[edit] History

Lumen Christi Junior/Senior High School was founded in the fall of 1996. It was originally open to grades 7-10, but expanded to 11th in 1997, and 12th in 1998. The school moved from its first building at 750 West Fireweed Lane in 2000 to its current location at 8110 Jewel Lake Road as part of St. Benedict's Parish where it is currently under the auspices of Father Giebel, who is a valuable part of the school. The school currently serves 90 students (60 high school, 30 junior high) as of spring 2006. It is involved with Alaska School Activities Association for athletics and is classified as 2A; Anchorage's only 2A school. Its mascot is the Archangel and the school's colors are Navy and Silver/White.

Lumen Christi is one of two Catholic high schools in Anchorage, the other is the Holy Rosary Academy, which operates independent of the archdiocese.
