Luke Nicholas (Oneida of the Thames), at age 18, was the youngest First Nation elected official in Canadian history. Nicholas served two terms on the tribal council and held portfolios including:

  • Chair of the Casino Rama distribution committee.
  • Member of the Oneida Education Authority.
  • Chair of the Economic Development Board.
  • Vice President of the National Solvents Abuse Centre.
  • Chair of the Membership Board of Oneida.

Nicholas was a founding member of the Ontario Young People's Council.

After leaving politics, Nicholas became a negotiator for aboriginal land claims and native issues with a Toronto based firm Leonard Domino & Associates.
