Lukáš Konečný

Lukáš Konečný (born July 19, 1978 in Brno) is a Czech light middleweight boxer.

Konečný was born in Brno, Moravia. His mother Lenka works as a teacher. His father Milan Konečný is a civil servant and also was a boxer. Konečný has a younger sister called Lenka. When he was 8 years old the family moved to Ústí nad Labem because of better work conditions for his father. Lukáš started boxing at that time. Later he attended a football class too but he wasn't good at it. So when he was 12 he devoted himself only to boxing. He tried to get to university three times - natural science twice and physical education once but thanks his lazing he didn't finish any of them. He got married with Jarka on June 3, 2000 and on May 12, 2003 his daughter Anna was born. Konečný has got a pet-dog beagle called Vincent.

He passed his first match when he was 14 years old. Then he won many foreign tournaments and Ústí nad Labem Grand Prix, too. He took part in Czech Republic Championship four times as a junior and five times as a senior. He was the second in the European Juniors Championship in Sifoku in 1995 but one year later he lost in Havana where he was the sixth. He got bronze medal in World Championship in Budapest in 1997 and he repeated the same result in Texas in 1999. He also highly esteems the second place in Córdoba Cardin tournament in Cuba. The Olympic Games in Sydney (in 2000) crowned his amateur career. However he lost the first match there. He pursued professional career because of financial reasons.

He signed contract with German stable "SES" (Sport Events Steinforth) on May 1, 2001 because there isn't any stable in Czech Republic that would have proven to enforce somebody in the world. He drills in Magdeburg but he spends much time at home in Ústí nad Labem. Lukáš is a holder of four titles:

  • International champion of Czech Republic
  • International champion of Germany
  • Intercontinental champion of NBA
  • Intercontinental champion of WBO

He hasn't any constant sponsors. Earlier he was sponsored by a building-commercial company TERMO.

Sports of course. For example bowling, paintball, squash, tennis and skiing. But he hates basketball and he can't skate.
