Luis Vicente Gámez Manchenge (Jan 22, 1889, Oct 10, 1973) is a local hero in Santa Marta, Colombia. He was among the few survivors of the Santa Marta Massacre. He grew up in extreme poverty, but through sheer determination and self-education, he became one of the richest people in the Magdalena area. Some of his sons and grandchildren still live in Santa Marta, as well as Barranquilla and Bogota, and tell a more detailed and entertaining version of the events of this story.
