Luis Miguel Salvador

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luis Miguel Salvador (born February 26, 1968 in Mexico City) is a retired Mexican football striker.

He was a squad member for the Mexican national team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup, playing only 10 minutes during the Republic of Ireland match. During his final club years with Atlante, Salvador was jokingly referred to as Luis Miguel "Fallador", a Spanish play on words for his poor striking ability ("Fallador" is derived from the Spanish "fallar", which means "to miss". "Fallador" literally translates as "the Squanderer").

He is the third scorer in Atlante history, just below "Cabinho" and Sebastián "Chamagol" González.

He used the number 9 in his jersey, he only changed it when Hugo Sánchez came to Atlante so Luis Miguel changed his number to 68.

He was champion of the mexican league in the 1992-1993 season, in that squad he play with Daniel Guzmán, Miguel Herrera, Raúl Gutierrez, Roberto Andrade and other excellent players, the coach of that team was Ricardo Lavolpe (he has only won 1 Mexican League and was with Atlante). In this season he finished second in the top scorers list, just below Ivo Bassay.

During his stay in Celaya club his goal celebrations were unique. He pretended to be meditating, playing golf, fishing, and other unusual behavior.
